College Student Gift Basket, Part 5

About the middle of their semester they might be running out of school supplies. A college student gift basket full of pens, highlighters, post–it, and other smaller supplies would be very helpful for your college student.

Sending your love through a college student gift basket is a welcome treat for the student. They’re sure to appreciate any type of gift you send. The most important thing is that they know it comes from you, don’t forget a nice note or card with a personal message.

For your daughter why not try a spa package. A nice spa day with the girls is a great way to relax after an exam. If you know what color their dorm is decorated you can send a matching gift basket.

For your son who likes video games, sending him a student gift basket of updated versions of their favorite games will add a nice boost to their time of relaxing. You’ll probably get some extra brownie points with the son if you get him the newest game console.

Movie buffs would always appreciate a college student gift basket that has coupons for rentals from the local video store. Don’t forget the popcorn and candy for movie night.

Flowers are a traditional and always accepted gift for your college student gift basket. If you purchase a high quality flower they’ll last longer than usual.

For something that will last forever and will be useful you could send a flower pen. You could also send a plant; there are many pretty cactuses that take very little care.

To keep the tired student awake those long nights of reading and studying you could send a coffee gift basket. Find out their favorite type of coffee and see if that company has gift baskets. If not, then finding out their favorite flavor and getting it from another company will probably be just as good.

College Student Gift Basket, Part 2

Students are going to be under a lot of stress and pressure from classes alone, not to mention the need to make friends and socialize. Sending a college student gift basket full of goodies to help them relax shows you care that they’re taking care of themselves as well as their education.

Since many students are eating out or ordering in a lot, sending a nice fruit basket helps them to remember to try to stay healthy. Apples, oranges and pears are the most common fruit in gift baskets.

If your student has a sweet tooth, you can find many baskets that will satisfy them. There’s a large variety of baskets with cookies, muffins and candies. Even their roommate will appreciate this basket.

Your son or daughter is all grown now and you’re sending them off to college. Of course you want them to know that you care and are thinking about them. Since most children love to get gifts from their parents why not send them a college student gift basket.

Flowers and gifts have been sent to loved ones for years. More recently parents have been sending their children gift baskets and care packages through the mail or by special delivery to remind them of their love.

Autumn Wedding Flowers, Part 4

For the men in the wedding party wheat is becoming more popular for boutonniere accents. The groom boutonniere should always have a white flower and a different boutonniere than the rest of the men. But with all the rest of the wedding party boutonnieres try a single rose with some accent that doesn’t overshadow the flower.

Autumn wedding flowers tend to be warm and rich in color, they can be traditional or not. The flowers in a wedding need to express who the bride and groom are.

Autumn Wedding Flowers, Part 3

Flowers make a great floral wedding cake topper if you don’t want to go with the traditional bride and groom. A set of three or five roses with the same colored petals adorning the wedding cake and table make a beautiful display.

For wedding center pieces use the same roses in small vases in sets of three in the center of round tables. If you have long tables try long stemmed roses laid on top of more of the burning bush accent. You could even string some wonderful dark green vine around head table.

Autumn Wedding Flowers, Part 2

For wedding flower accents you could shy away from the traditional and try some autumn themed shrubbery. The Emerald Gaiety version of the Burning Bush would be a great background for roses, especially in some arm held bouquets for bridesmaids.

You could also accent with berries – which are actually becoming more and more popular. The red chokeberry would make a nice addition to a bridal bouquet or even the decorative flowers in the wedding and reception.

Autumn Wedding Flowers

When planning an autumn wedding you need to consider the question: what are the appropriate autumn wedding flowers? Every girl knows that flowers are very important to the look and feel of the wedding. Most brides choose warm and rich colors for their autumn wedding. You’ll see a lot of reds and oranges, some greens and yellows.

Some brides go with faux flowers so that they’ll always keep. If that’s the case you’re not limited to what type of flower you want. If you want real flowers then the most popular is the rose. Since you can get roses in a wide variety of colors you’ll have a lot of freedom here.

Back to School Flowers

School is starting soon and as the parent of a student you might want to consider sending flowers to your child's teacher. It can be done anonymously so that you can avoid any suggestion of bribery or brown nosing (as it was called in my day). However a gift of flowers or a lovely back-to-school gift basket can be a powerful life to the spirit of the person who will be guiding the education of your child.

As a friend and relative of a couple of school teachers I can tell you that they pretty much have a thankless job. For one thing, just because school is out for the summer, does not mean that they also enjoy a vacation. Many of these dedicated educators spend the summer on the lookout for new items to take to school in the fall to stimulate their class's interest.

They also go back to school early to prepare their classroom and to put up fresh decorations (especially in the elementary grades), banners and posters. In some schools, if they want a new wall color, they have to do the painting themselves!

During the school year, they arrive at school well in advance of the thankless hoards called students, they stay late, and then they usually take papers home to grade. Weekends are usually given over to lesson planning, reading reports and grading tests.

These duties are all done on a salary that most educated professionals would consider chickenfeed. While in some locations their very lives are in danger from the very students they are there to educate. Think you have a rough job? Try being a school teacher!

School will be starting soon, send that hardworking, dedicated teacher a bouquet of
back-to-school flowers or gift basket.

Going a Little Overboard?

"Why do people give each other flowers? To celebrate various important occasions, they're killing living creatures? Why restrict it to plants? "Sweetheart, let's make up. Have this deceased squirrel." ~The Washington Post

That is definitely going a little overboard. No one can live in this life and not "kill" something. I bet the person who wrote this sentiment uses some kind of antibacterial soap, toothpaste or dishsoap. How terrible! Do you know how many living creatures you kill everytime you brush your teeth? How crude!

Why don't we just enjoy the beauty of flowers, whether we admire them from afar or graciously accept that bouquet of roses that a sweetheart just sent. There is nothing like the fragrance of a bouquet of flowers perched on a sideboard.

Even better is the wonderful dance of the senses when one wanders through a flower garden sparkling with the diamond-like shine of water droplets left from a spring shower while inhaling the rich aroma of a variety of blooms.

See the flowers? Close your eyes, inhale and enjoy the fragrance without feeling guilty.

Flowers Feed the Soul

"Tis my faith that every flower enjoys the air it breathes!" ~William Wordsworth

If you haven't stopped and smelled the flowers lately, perhaps you live in Texas and your flowers have all drowned. Then again, I just noticed the other day that the tree that grows next to my patio is dripping with vibrant pink flowers. So perhaps the payoff of so much rain is that the extra moisture has allowed the spring flowers to last into summer.

Take the time to smell the flowers, and come back and visit me again, as I'll be providing information on flowers, gifts and gardening.

Thanks for visiting. See ya later.
