Going a Little Overboard?

"Why do people give each other flowers? To celebrate various important occasions, they're killing living creatures? Why restrict it to plants? "Sweetheart, let's make up. Have this deceased squirrel." ~The Washington Post

That is definitely going a little overboard. No one can live in this life and not "kill" something. I bet the person who wrote this sentiment uses some kind of antibacterial soap, toothpaste or dishsoap. How terrible! Do you know how many living creatures you kill everytime you brush your teeth? How crude!

Why don't we just enjoy the beauty of flowers, whether we admire them from afar or graciously accept that bouquet of roses that a sweetheart just sent. There is nothing like the fragrance of a bouquet of flowers perched on a sideboard.

Even better is the wonderful dance of the senses when one wanders through a flower garden sparkling with the diamond-like shine of water droplets left from a spring shower while inhaling the rich aroma of a variety of blooms.

See the flowers? Close your eyes, inhale and enjoy the fragrance without feeling guilty.
